ENC1101 and English III--Clarification about Homework Assignments

I want to reiterate that until you hear differently, your ongoing homework is to annotate the texts you are reading--at least one annotation for every paragraph. Be sure your annotations are substantive and elaborative. As I have said repeatedly, you do not need to annotate paragraphs that are only one sentence in length. In many of the posts, you may see other activities mentioned. Until I say differently, these assignments are optional--you might consider doing them to help you understand the texts better or to give you ideas about how to analyze and take good notes. You must look up vocabulary you do not know and remember the definitions. (Vocabulary definitions can be an annotation.)

Any questions associated with the texts are also optional.

If the post/PDF includes commentary or analysis on the actual text, you do not need to annotate this section. I do recommend reading the material to help you better understand the text. Also, any biographical information does not need to be annotated. Again, reading this material will make you smarter, so I highly recommend that you do so.

Remember, you are responsible for having completed homework by the due date. I could check your work for a grade or give you an assessment on that day or anytime after.

If and when I ask you to submit any assignments (not annotations) to Canvas, you should always submit your work in a Word document, MLA format.

Thank you for working hard. You are great students.
