Exercise One: Use this link to create the most common question types on the SAT Reading section. Apply them to the text you are reading.  Also, create the answers.  Be very specific.

Read and answer all questions on the handout for Man's Search for Meaning. You must answer in complete sentences (points will be taken off). Provide textual support for most of your answers. Cite the page numbers. You do not have to write the questions, although you may if you like. Number your questions.

The play Ghosts by Henrik Ibsen opened  on the London stage on March 13, 1881.  Ghosts was  considered a controversial play and had already been banned in St. Petersburg, Russia, on religious grounds, although Ibsen was Norwegian.

The SAT is a month away. You need to practice. NoRedInk is a good resource for brushing up on your writing, grammar, SAT, and ACT skills.

Clarification: If a posted assignment indicates for you to print out a reading selection, know that is optional (you do not need to print out the reading selection itself). You may choose to read the selection on your digital device instead. You are only required to print out the Word document assignments I specify in the post and keep them in your binder.

Research shows that metacognition (thinking about your thinking) improves skill acquisition. In other words, you will do better on standardized reading tests and reading in general. Your reading comprehension will increase. Practice answering SAT-style reading questions on lined paper (with the correct letter response). In addition, try to discern (figure out) the type of question you have just answered. Use the link above as you determine the question types. Write the type of question next to your letter answer.

For each answer that you select, you must include a quotation (with page citation) from the text to support your choice.  Exception: If the question or your answer choice includes a quotation or reference to lines within the text, you need not include a quotation.
