Because of the amount of traffic on the internet and Canvas, the Canvas system is having problems. If you find you can't get on, try back later. With hope, they may be able to work out the issues soon.
Remember: Sign onto my website at least twice daily--once in the morning and again at 4 p.m. The district is tracking attendance by checking that you have logged on to Canvas, so you should also sign into Canvas every morning to look for any new announcements. In that way, your "virtual" attendance will be recorded.
Thankfully, this website is the primary means of communication.
